Diana Schumacher has been an activist for peace (including peace with nature) from the late1970’s. She has worked in a voluntary capacity to make connections between the 3E’s – Energy, Environment and Economics and to try, with others, to instigate some educational, informational and practical transformations in these key areas which are prerequisites for peace and social justice. This has led to her serving on the councils or executives of over 25 pioneering environmental and development organisations with the hope of bringing some of them together in recognition that their aims are interrelated. She has been a Founder Member of the Schumacher Society, The Gandhi Foundation, TOES (now The New Economics Foundation) and the Environmental Law Foundation of which she is Vice President. She is also Vice President of the Environmental Action Group for Europe; a trustee of the India Development Group (UK) and Schumacher Centre Delhi and Co-Director of Work Structuring Ltd, an organisational consultancy striving to bring holistic and spiritual values into the world of work, industry and institutional life.
Diana sends news of the The Schumacher Centenary Festival: Time For a New Direction: Saturday 8th – Sunday 9th October, Bristol. A weekend celebrating the life and vision of E.F. Schumacher, author of Small is Beautiful and A Guide for the Perplexed and pioneer of green economics.
